The First Dental Visit
Because our concern is the prevention of dental problems, it is necessary to see children and their parents very early in the child’s development. Our office, as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Philippine Pediatric Dental Society Inc. all recommend that the first dental visit should be scheduled around the first birthday.
Preparing for the First Dental
Visit You may want to discuss the positive aspects of dentistry with your child. But do avoid fear provoking words such as "drill", "shot", "hurt", "pull" or "needle". Avoid statements like "The dentist will not hurt you." But rather, state "The dentist will be very gentle."
We prefer to work on a basis of trust. Parents should try to appear relaxed and confident. Anxiety on your part will be sensed by the child. We aim to gain your child's confidence and establish a close rapport.
